The VCL-2725 is an industrial multirate media converter that is housed in a rugged aluminum chassis, which is designed to convert a 10/100/1000Base-T (Electrical Ethernet) signal into a 100Base-FX or 1000Base-X (Optical Ethernet—multirate) signal. And vice versa. It may be used to convert/extend 10/100/1000Base-T electrical Ethernet signals to 100Base-FX or 1000Base-X (optical Ethernet) transparently with no performance degradation. The VCL-2725 industrial media converter is an ideal solution to connect networks on different floors, separate buildings, and extend distances between servers, workgroups, or locations. Optical loss budget options are from 12 dB to up to 38 dB (i.e., equivalent to 2 KM (1.24 miles)) to up to approximately 80 KM (50 miles) (with nominal cable attenuation and splicing losses) in an Ethernet network.
